A long weekend in which you – together with like-minded people – work on your physical strength, mental resilience and trail technique. No pressure to perform, but a challenge. No standard running training, but an experience that gives you confidence in yourself and your preparation for that big goal you are training for.

Location: Nether Wasdale, Lake District, United Kingdom
Level: For anyone training for an (ultra)trail or wanting to increase their self-confidence in unfamiliar terrain
Group size: Minimum 2 – Maximum 4 participants

Program

Program (global layout, depending on level, goal and circumstances)

Thursday – Arrival & Welcome

  • Pick-up at nearby station

  • Welcome speech and introduction

  • Joint dinner

  • Explanation of the program and preparation for the first training

  • Relaxing evening

Friday – Body & Nutrition

  • Joint breakfast

  • Breathing, meditation or fresh dip (optional)

  • Material check & explanation about packing

  • Introductory run over light terrain

  • Lunch on the go

  • Educational moment about nutrition & energy balance

  • Healthy dinner

Saturday – Climbing & mindset

  • Awakening with breathing or meditation

  • Long endurance run with more elevation gain

  • Lunch on the go

  • Workshop: efficient climbing/descending & energy conservation

  • Workshop: mental strength, dealing with discomfort and pressure

  • Dinner & space for exchange

Sunday – Wrapping up & integration

  • Short, easy local trail run

  • Moment of reflection: what will you take with you?

  • Transport back to station

What are you taking with you?

  • Trail running shoes with good grip

  • Trail running backpack with water bottles or drinking system

  • Own food (bars, gels)

  • Clothing in layers (base layer, insulation, waterproof)

  • Gloves, hat, sun cap, sunscreen

  • Everything you normally take with you for an independent outdoor weekend
